The counselors at Gunderson High School share a common passion for helping students succeed in high school and beyond. Meet our team:

Academics

Patricia Lopez

is our Academic Counselor, working primarily with 11th and 12th graders. She provides academic guidance and assists students with exploring post-secondary options to help them become college and career ready. Her office is located near the Forum by the ATM machine (in the Counseling Center). Ms. Lopez is on campus everyday from 8:05-3:25pm. She is available for drop-in counseling at lunch and after school every day or by appointment. Email Ms. Lopez

Angel Winn

is our 10th grade Academic Counselor. She advises students not just on courses but also study skills, tips and techniques to being successful in school as well as exploring post-secondary options. Ms. Winn's office is located near the Forum (in the Counseling Center). She is on campus 7:30-2:30 Wed, Thurs and Friday. Email Ms. Winn

College & Career

DCAC Advisors

Mayra Garcia-Hernandez and Lindsay Luna are our college advisors from UC Berkeley's Destination College Corps (DCAC). They are on campus 8-3pm, Monday-Friday. DCAC works primarily with Juniors to provide academic planning and college admissions information. In addition, they will be working with the Counseling Department on classroom guidance presentations, financial aid workshops, and college entrance exams. Julie Bowers

is our College & Career Center Technician. Her focus is to assist juniors and seniors in applying for scholarships, intership programs, and registering for college entrance exams. She also assists the student that attend SVCTE. Her office is located in the Library Media Venter, along with the college and career center. Stop by and see her for any questions! General Counseling

YWCA counselors

are on campus everyday. YWCA Counseling Services offer social-emotional counseling to students as requested or referred. The YWCA office is located in the Library Media Center. For more information, ask any adult on campus for help .

Sam Truong

is on campus Tuesdays 8-2pm and Thursdays 8-1pm. He is a MSW intern from Gardner Family Care providing social and emotional counseling to students. Gardner is a non profit that provides health care and mental health services to many people in Santa Clara County. Email Mr. Truong

Angelica Holguin

is on campus Tuesdays and can be reached anytime Monday through Wednesday by phone at 408 595-5324 or email. She is a MediCal therapist from Gardner Family Care providing social and emotional counseling to students. Gardner Family Care is a non-profit organization that provides health care and mental health services to individuals and families in Santa Clara County. Email Ms. Holguin
