Gunderson High competes in the Blossom Valley Athletic League (BVAL) of league in the California Interscholastic Federation and offers a comprehensive athletic program. There are 44 teams with approximately 700 students participating on an athletic team. We encourage you to browse the information below or contact us if you have questions.

Requirements for Athletics Participation 

1. Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
2. Create a new Home Campus Account to Register for participation in Athletics.
3. Wait for clearance from the team’s head coach

We have adopted a NEW ATHLETIC CLEARANCE PLATFORM within SJUSD to better align with the CCS and CIF.  We will now use Home Campus.  Note:  We are NOT using Aktivate (Register My Athlete) for the 2026/2027 school year.

ALL NEW AND RETURNING ATHLETES WILL NEED TO CREATE A NEW HOME CAMPUS ACCOUNT TO REGISTER AND PARTICIPATE IN ATHLETICS.

ATHLETIC PHYSICALS:
The physical form must be completed for all athletic clearance.  Athletic clearances can be done ON CAMPUS on 7/21/26 and 8/13/26.  More information will be updated.  As a reminder, athletic physicals are good for 12 months, but athletes WILL NOT be cleared if their physicals expire during the season.
